Saskatchewan Drive-in Theatres

Drive-in theatres have been a moviegoer’s haven since the mid-1900s. Enjoying some buttery popcorn in the comfort of your car with your best friend or main squeeze is a movie-watching experience that you can’t get at an indoor theatre.

Saskatchewan is home to five drive-in theatres preserving this retro pastime. For older generations, it is a chance to relive the glory days, while younger generations can experience the magic for the first time. Make the most of your Saskatchewan summer nights and catch a show on the big screen.

Twilite Drive-in Theatre

Twilite Drive-in Theatre opened in 1954 and is one of the first drive-in theatres built in Saskatchewan. The theatre still plays shows each weekend from May through September for movie lovers. Located in the town of Wolseley, the Twilite Drive-in is a popular evening outing for the surrounding communities and nearby cities.

Clearwater Drive-in Theatre

The Clearwater Drive-in Theatre has been entertaining residents and summer visitors since 1957. The drive-in upgraded to a new screen and digital projector in 2014 to keep the good times rolling.
The theatre is located just outside of the town of Kyle, a quick 50-minute drive from Swift Current and around the corner from Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park.

Salty Cinema Drive-in Theatre

The Salty Cinema Drive-in Theatre is aptly named, being located right beside Canada’s dead sea, Little Manitou Lake. Movie goers have been enjoying old and new films at Manitou Beach since 1955. Catching a show at this theatre is the perfect addition to your experience of this quaint touristy town.

Prairie Dog Drive-in Theatre

Just north of Carlyle is Prairie Dog Drive-in Theatre, open from May to September and featuring first-run movies on a nostalgic big screen. Opened in 1981, Prairie Dog Drive-in is a must stop when visiting the popular Moose Mountain Provincial Park and Kenosee Resort area.

Moonlight Movies Drive-in Theatre

Saskatchewan’s newest addition to its list of outdoor drive-ins is Moonlight Movies Drive-in Theatre in Pilot Butte. Based in the rodeo grounds, just 10 minutes' drive east of Regina, Moonlight Movies opened in 2020 to bring the retro movie watching experience to the surrounding area.

Drive-in theatres offer a unique way to experience the magic of cinema under the open sky, blending nostalgia with modern entertainment. Whether you're reliving cherished memories or making new ones, Saskatchewan’s drive-in theatres provide the perfect backdrop for a fun summer night out. Plan your next movie night at one of Saskatchewan’s drive-ins, grab some popcorn, and settle in for a memorable evening on the big screen.
