The Battle Creek Trail
This trail has a few ups and downs, geographically speaking. The 6.5-km trail loop that winds past abandoned trading posts along Battle Creek, and leads to Cypress Hills Massacre National Historic Site. Take time to reflect on this defining chapter in Canadian history before heading back to the fort. Find more information here.
The Métis Trail
Offering beautiful scenery and great photo opportunities, this tranquil trail winds along beautiful Battle Creek. The 550-m trail is well-maintained, close to the fort and perfect for a family walk. Stroller and wheelchair friendly.
Fort Walsh Guided Tour
Experience the dramatic history and stories of Fort Walsh through costumed interpreters. Visitors stroll through all of the buildings in the fort, learning about its creation and life in the 1870s.
Experience the Fur Trade
Visit the Métis cabins and trading post near the Métis Trail, where the whole family can try tracking wild game and test their bartering skills.
Cypress Hills Massacre Site Tour
This guided bus tour through the heart of the Cypress Hills runs daily in July and August, from 1:30-2:30 p.m. See the original sites of Farwell and Solomon’s historic trading posts. Seats are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Daily Feature
Join costumed interpreters in an interactive presentation that will share enriching stories of the many peoples who called the Cypress Hills home in the 1870s. Offered daily in July and August, 1:30-2:30 p.m.
NWMP Horsemanship
Visit the stables and meet the horses. Pitch in and help a North-West Mounted Police office with stable duties. Offered Saturdays in July and August.

Everyday – Fort Dailies
10:30 a.m. – Stroll the Métis Trail and get familiar with the surroundings. Hike the Battle Creek Trail for a backcountry experience.
11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. – Fort Walsh Guided Tour – also offered at 10:30 a.m., 2:45 and 3:45 p.m.
12:30-1:30 p.m. – Check out the visitor centre and interactive exhibits, or grab some lunch and enjoy a picnic.
1:30-2:30 p.m. – Cypress Hills Massacre Tour – Limited seats available; first-come, first-served. Weather permitting.
1:30-2:30 p.m. – Daily Feature
2:30 p.m. – Track wild game with Experience the Fur Trade
