Snow Day in the City of Bridges
The sun is shining, there’s a skiff of snow and you’re kicking your way along paved paths in the Meewasin Valley near the Saskatoon Farmer's Market. It’s a perfect winter day to enjoy the outdoors and explore Saskatoon in a new way – on a kick sled!
A kicksled is a great way to get around Saskatoon in winter. Rent a kicksled from Escape Sports for $15/day. It’s an easy and fun way for people of all ages to make the most of the season.
Skating at the Cameco Skating Rink, located beside the Bessborough Hotel, is a perfect way to enjoy winter. What if you don’t have skates? No worries, they have free rentals! If you’re a little wobbly, they also have supports that you can take out on the ice. Don’t be shy, it’s all for fun – so get out there!
Winter is a beautiful time of year to go hiking or winter biking throughout the Meewasin Valley, at Beaver Creek or along the Cranberry Flats. The longer sunrises and sunsets make the “golden hour” the best time to head out to see the amazing views of the South Saskatchewan River. Don’t miss the view of downtown from the train bridge.
You are sure to work up an appetite as you explore the outdoors. Part of the fun of being in Saskatoon, at any time of year, is checking out the amazing restaurants. Schedule a few stops at one of these eateries. You will not regret it!
