The Climax Community Museum (CCM) invites everyone to come and visit its three sites for a memorable experience!
Welcome to the Climax Community Museum “Where Discovery Begins.” Step back in time into the old-fashioned general store. Imagine fighting a prairie fire with a rare ‘fire drag’ or pose with an original Fort Walsh jail door. Browse through the museum's collection of Indigenous, ranching, settler, medical, military and sports artifacts. Explore the parlor, kitchen, child’s bedroom, settler bedroom, school room, post office, rum-runners display, blacksmith shop, railway display and period clothing. Research school records, yearbooks, local history books, vintage maps and homestead records in the new archives room. There is so much to discover you won’t want to leave.
Check out the art exhibits, including local and visiting artists, as well as Flexhaug originals, at the CCM Art & Culture Centre. Participate in cultural events, workshops and interactive presentations. The centre is open for special events year round.
See the museum's ‘Plow Horse Mural’ at the Antique Machinery Annex located at the junction of Hwys 37 and 18. The Annex features a restored ‘Model A’ car, an authentic cook car, elevator engine, wagons, tractors, threshers and more! It is also open for special events or by appointment.
On July 1, the museum will have an operating ‘1904 Case steam engine’ in the community's parade. Following the parade, the steam engine will be on display and a Q&A session will take place.
Open Jul to Sep.
