Explore the Great Sand Hills of southwestern Saskatchewan, a vast 1,900 sq. km landscape featuring active sand dunes surrounded by native grasses and sporadic clusters of aspen, willow, and sagebrush. This unique area is also home to wildlife including mule deer and antelope. For directions and more details, visit Sceptre village office or the Great Sandhills Museum & Interpretive Centre. Climb to the top of a huge sand dune and simply enjoy the expansive views. Camping is available at Leader, and there is a small campground in Sceptre. Note that the final approach to the dunes traverses private land and requires adherence to specific guidelines: no fires or camping, and parking only in designated areas. Please remember to respect the environment; take only pictures, leave only footprints.
