Stop at the Coronach Visitor Centre on Centre Street for tourist information and to learn of the history of Coronach and area including the rich coal history and the history of the Big Muddy Badlands. The Centre is the starting point for self-drive, pre-booked Big Muddy Tours.
With the aid of a certified local tour guide, Big Muddy Tours let you explore the hills and the history resting in the scenic Big Muddy Badlands. Relive the history of cattle rustlers and horse thieves dodging the law on both sides of the border as you look out of the cave where famous outlaws and their men hid. See sacred Indigenous sites including the effigies and ceremonial circle. Other stops along the tour may include Castle Butte, Big Beaver Nature Centre and Paisley Brook Schoolhouse. Pre-booking is required as most of these sites are on private property. Full-day, half-day and a new highlights tour are available led by nationally certified local tour guides. Tour participants must have their own vehicle.
