Rich in Mennonite heritage, the community of Hague was named after Mr. J. Hague, an engineer for the Canadian National Railway when the track was laid to connect Saskatoon and Prince Albert. The town's railroad water tower, one of the few still standing in the province, is the symbol for the town and is proudly displayed on its town sign.
With its fertile land, the community is home to many dairy, poultry, hog and mixed farming operations. It is also home to the Saskatchewan River Valley Museum which depicts the area's history.
