This small community once boasted the Shaw Railroad - possibly Saskatchewan's first privately owned logging railroad. It still boasts Nellie Ferleyko's collection of over 3,000 salt and pepper shakers, as well as a groomed snowmobile trail, big game and goose hunting and annual ATV and snowmobile rallies. Canoe local rivers or catch up on local news in the coffee corner. Bob (Polecat) Poley, 1989 Saskatchewan Roughriders Grey Cup Champion, was originally from Prairie River.
