Predominantely an agricultural community, Prud'homme was originally known as the hamlet of Howell, and the name was changed in 1922 to honor a newly appointed Bishop Msgr. J. Henri Prud'homme. Canada's first female Governor General, the Right Honourable Jeanne Mathilde Sauve was born in Prud'homme and lived in the community until she was three years old before moving to Ottawa with her family.
The village is located 45 minutes northeast of Saskatoon on Hwy 27. It is ideally located close enough to enjoy the big city amenities, while still enjoying the peaceful benefits of small community living. Community businesses and services include a post office, credit union, library, community complex, grocery store, pub and pizzeria and Silver Age Hall.
