For Eatonia, the settlement era began in 1918 in a squatters' camp around a Canadian Northern Railway construction camp. The town honours its twin heritage in a park beside the railway tracks featuring an Eaton Catalogue farmhouse and a one-of-a-kind Canadian National Railway station, still on site.  A guide tour book identifies other significant buildings throughout the community.
