Last Mountain Lake National Wildlife Area is home to the oldest bird sanctuary in North America, featuring great birding in mid-May and fall staging during September and October. Over 280 bird species migrate through the area, and many other species nest and raise their young here. Public facilities at this site on the north end of Last Mountain Lake include self-interpretive trails, an observation tower, a picnic site, and washrooms. A new interpretive pavilion is built and will open to the public upon its completion.
Open Apr 1 to Nov 30.
