Saddle up and head through the Prince Albert National Park into the Saskatchewan outback on a guided horse-riding adventure with the Sturgeon River Ranch Backcountry Overnight Horseback Adventure. Riders will set up camp on a remote lake in the Boreal Forest where they can catch their supper and cook it over the open flames of a campfire. Enjoy fantastic daily rides approximately 3-5 hours in length, swim with your horse and settle into the wonders of nature during this 2-day/1-night excursion. With the Sturgeon River Ranch Day Ride Horseback Bison Tours offer, riders will head out from the ranch, located in the beautiful Sturgeon River Valley, into the wild west side of the Prince Albert National Park, home of Canada's only free ranging herd of Plains bison. Riders are encouraged to bring along a snack and enjoy it at the halfway point, as the group pauses for a quick break, and to fully embrace the natural splendor of northern Saskatchewan. After the break, the riders will head back along the valley view trail overlooking the Stoney Plain and Valley View Meadows.
Rides are offered year round, rain or shine. The trails around the ranch are beautiful whatever the season. With over a million acres to explore there is a different trail for every day of the week. Multi-day adventures are available, please contact ranch prior to stay and arrangements can be made. Starting at rate $175/rider; rides approximately 3 hours in duration.

Sturgeon River Ranch is thrilled to announce a brand new winter adventure! From December through April (depending on snow conditions), the Snow Bug Bison Tour is a 4-hour excursion allowing visitors to have the chance to observe Saskatchewan’s only free-ranging herd of wild Plains Bison in their winter habitat. Guests will enjoy the comfort and safety of travelling in a Bombardier Snow Machine while to and from the herd's anticipated location. Along the way they’ll take in the beautiful scenery of northern Saskatchewan and the mix of boreal forest and plains landscapes. While out in the wilderness, the tour will also stop and make quick-camp with a fire, smokies, marshmallows and warm beverages.
