The Northern Settlement of Stanley Mission is a Woodland Cree community located 80 km northeast of La Ronge on the Churchill River. Community services include elementary and high schools, health services, grocery and general merchandise stores and a gas bar.
Annual events include a snowmobile poker rally in January, a winter festival in March and a summer gathering.
The community is home to Holy Trinity Anglican Church, a designated provincial heritage site and the oldest building standing in Saskatchewan (built 1854-1860). The lumber for the church was cut locally; however the locks, hinges and thousands of pieces of coloured glass used in the stain glass windows came from England. The church is accessible by boat or canoe. Inquire locally for water transportation to Holy Trinity Church and area attractions.
