Batting Cages and Board Games: Indoor Fun for the Young-at-heart

Winter is almost over and you’ve rewatched your favourite Netflix series so many times that you can lip-synch the dialogue flawlessly. That’s right it’s time to get out of the house. Here are a few suggestions to help you thaw out and let loose this time of year:

Cure cabin fever the traditional way

Gather friends and build bonds over a fantastic adventure, or make enemies for life playing Monopoly. Check out King Me Boardgamery and Café in Saskatoon or the Board Game Café at Escape Club in Regina. Both venues carry extensive board game libraries with hundreds of titles to keep you entertained.

Grab a cup, pinkies up

Hot tea on a cold day is divine, but springtime slush calls for more serious libations. Saskatoon has many locally operated breweries and distilleries featuring award-winning spirits, crisp ciders and ales brewed with locally grown ingredients. Or, head south to Lumsden to tour Iron Bridge Brewery and Last Mountain Distillery – “the home of dill pickle vodka”.

Get Out! (of these escape rooms)

Great for dates, parties and finding out which friends you’d want to bring if you were stranded on an island, escape rooms are the most immersive puzzle games around. Try a Prohibition-era puzzle at Little Chicago Entertainment in Moose Jaw, or work your way out of District 8 Escape in Prince Albert. Both Regina and Saskatoon also have a number of escape rooms.

Expand your mind

With a licensed bar, snacks and advanced stage shows, science just became a lot more fun. Check out Adults Science Nights at the Saskatchewan Science Centre in Regina and Nutrien Wonderhub’s Adult Nights in Saskatoon for an evening of excitement and inquiry.

Let your inner child run free

Relive your childhood bowling alley birthday parties and video game nights with friends. Hit a home run in the batting cages at Baller’s Rec Room in Regina, or visit The Stoked Centre in Saskatoon with activities like bowling, go-karts and two levels of arcade games to keep you and your friends entertained all night long.
